Today was our third and last day at Disneyland. We started early and got into the park as the gates opened at 10:00 am. We were back at California Adventure again – it seemed to have more rides and attractions that appealed to the five of us. The Screamer coaster seemed to be the favorite, Steven went on it twice in a row. Alyssa was about an inch or so too short, but she was OK for Space Mountain and said that was her favourite ride!

The day today was cooler than Wednesday and Thursday, but still OK until about 2:00 pm when it started to rain. We headed back to the hotel and relaxed and got some supper. By 7:30 the rain had stopped so we bundled up in an extra layer of two and headed back to the park. We did a few more rides and saw the fireworks display then Brenda tolkMark and Alyssa back to the hotel while Steven and I caught one last ride.

Tomorrow we pack up and head off to San Diego for the rest of the vacation.

… or, more precisely, California Adventure. It’s been sunny and warm today and pretty light crowds. We’ve only used the fastpass system once in two days – the longest line for anything yet has been about 20 minutes. The boys and I even got on the California Screamer coaster in less than 10 minutes.

It’s about 4:00 pm and we just had a late lunch and will head back for the evening after a bit of a rest.

By the way, if you are geeky enough you’ll be impressed by the fact that I’m writing these posts on Brenda’s iPhone while connected to the web over the hotel’s wireless network. I think that is pretty cool!

Day 1 is mostly done. We arrived in LA late last night and crashed at our hotel right across the street from Disneyland. This morning we slept in a little, had the free breakfast at the hotel and got into the park by 10:00 am when the gates opened. It was a great day, about 17 degrees and sunny, and no lines for the rides. We’ve seen longer lines at Calaway Park!
The kids had a great time and we just got back to the hotel now (6:00 pm), we’ll have a bite to eat and maybe head back to the park for another hour after that.
Tomorrow we’re off to the California Adventure park, right beside Disneyland.

It’s after 11:00pm on Christmas Eve and the children are (finally) snuggled down in their beds… I’m not sure that they’d even recognize a sugar-plum if it fell on them.  I don’t suppose I would, either.

Nonetheless, the excitement of anticipating Christmas has been very recognizable as we have adjudicated debates over whether it is proper to count today when discerning the number of days left til Christmas Day.  Now that the house is quiet, I’ve a moment to count the days since last Christmas and to be thankful for all of them.  We’ve had our ups and downs this year, as every family does, but looking back over 2008 it has been a good year.
